Week 14

Week 14 Lecture:  During the week 14 lecture session, students presented their work for Assignment 3, which involved creating websites for clients. Each group, including our group (Group 3 Group 1), showcased their website designs and functionalities. The presentations included demonstrating the website's features by navigating through the various pages and highlighting the navigation capabilities. All students listened to and observed the presentations from the different groups.

A3 Summary: This project consolidated the lessons from Assignment 2 and deepened my understanding of the website creation and design process. Following a specific process is key to creating a successful website. Assisting the client improved our communication skills and gave us an understanding of mobile web development. Key skills required to design a client's website include understanding client needs, project management, effective communication, user experience design, web design principles, responsive design, search engine optimisation, accessibility, content management, testing, assimilating feedback and ongoing maintenance. These skills ensure that the website is user-friendly, functional, and meets the client's needs. Additionally, I learned how to communicate effectively with clients to reach consensus and how to analyse their brand image through platforms such as Instagram to create a consistent and cohesive atmosphere for their websites. A2 Summary: This assignment taught me how to develop and design a website, from writing copy and sketching to creating low and high fidelity wireframes. Although I had some previous knowledge, this task deepened my understanding and enhanced my technical skills. I learnt the importance of writing copy and choosing appealing images that capture the viewer's attention and help clients increase sales. Sketches and wireframes are essential for creating the basic structure of a website and I gained valuable experience in this process. In addition, I learnt to create simple videos and animations for smooth transitions, improving my proficiency with video editing software. A1 Summary: This assignment gave me a thorough understanding of the design process, including techniques for creating logos, website banners and CVs. I learnt that adhering to logo design standards and professional guidelines leads to more accurate, higher quality results.  In designing website banners, I realised the importance of images in creating the overall atmosphere of a website. Choosing the right images is crucial. I experimented with various layouts and images to achieve the desired look, as detailed in my weekly notebook. This exploration broadened my options and enhanced my learning.  With regards to CVs, I have found that simplicity and formality are vital. A CV should convey my essential information in an appealing yet straightforward manner. Week 12 Lecture: Understanding the distinction between client-side and server-side development is crucial for effective web development. Client-side development, also known as front-end development, refers to the programming that runs on the user's device, encompassing everything a user interacts with directly in their web browser. The primary goal of client-side development is to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.
